Abstract

Jean-Paul Sartre's Philosophy starts from a certain philosophical principle: conscience. To theorize about the real, Sartre first needed to show his new perspectives on the relationships between the ego, consciousness and the world. Sartre wanted to show that he had a new conception of consciousness and to develop his theses he wrote works such as: The Transcendence of the ego, the imagination and The imaginary. Maturing his thoughts and discussing Husserl's phenomenology and Heidegger's critical reflections, Sartre wrote his phenomenological ontology essay, Being and Nothingness, seeking a new perspective on being and existence, continuing the work of others philosophers and opening the doors for a philosophy of concreteness. In the first part of this study, the proposal is to analyze important considerations about the origins of Sartre's philosophical principle: the pre-reflexive conscience, or, the Sartrean cogito.
