Abstract

The cashew nut is an almond widely consumed and that moves the economy of cashew. The production of almonds by cooking raw nuts releases the Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (LCC), which has the presence of four main phenolic compounds: cardanol, anarcadic acid, methyl cardol and cardol. The structural modification of these compounds has been extensively studied in the development of biocides. The phytopathogen Lasiodiplodia theobramae (L. theobromae) is a species of fungus that causes necrosis of branches, leaves and fruit, and attacks the cashew tree itself and in more than 500 species of plants, which can cause the death of such species. In this work, the antifungal effect of an azo compound derived from the structural modification of hydrogenated cardanol against L. theobramae was evaluated. The inhibition percentages obtained in vitro were subjected to two-way analysis of variance. The product showed better efficiency in the concentration of 1100 µg ml-1 with an average inhibition of 54% up to 48 hours and 23% after 72 hours.
