Assessment of accessibility levels on public roads

The present work has as general objective to evaluate and map the levels of urban accessibility, being chosen as object of study the public road Rua de Santa Cruz, located in the city of Recife/PE. As a methodology, two methods were used to assess and map the accessibility levels of the object of study, namely: the post-occupancy evaluation checklist method proposed by the "Guide for Accessible Mobility on Public Roads", developed by the Housing Department from the Municipality of São Paulo (2003), which was adapted to the reality of the city of Recife/PE, indicating an analysis through 03 (three) options, when filled in "Y" means to say that the item exists, "N" for not exists or is in irregularity and “NA” for does not apply; and the “Accessibility Spectrum” method described in Baptista (2003), which demonstrates the different levels of accessibility through the use of five colors, where “blue” represents full accessibility conditions and “red” represents a very bad condition. accessibility, in this way it is possible to recognize places that are configured as architectural barriers. Regarding the results obtained, the application of the APO check-list indicated an absence or failure in the implementation of urban infrastructure devices, such as free lanes, ramps and tactile flooring. And as for the mapping of the accessibility spectrum, the evaluation indicated the most precarious sidewalks and crossings through a spectrum of colors. In conclusion, the present study found that the same space can present different levels of accessibility.
