Space-temporal variability of the landscape structure and forest fragmentation in the apa of Serra Baturité in Ceará.

As a result of the indiscriminate search for wood, illegal harvesting, inadequate agricultural practices and other poorly planned human activities, forest resources are among the most threatened natural assets in today's society. Based on this, this research aims to map the dynamics of forest fragmentation in the APA of the Serra de Baturité-CE. For this, images from the SENTINEL 2A satellite were used. The band combination used was R8G4B3 using the Composite Bands tool in ArcGis 10.2 software. Image classification was performed by the MaxVer classifier, using the Image Classification tool. Forest fragmentation was determined by the method of landscape metrics. For the assessment of plant dynamics, the Normalization Difference Vegetation Index-NDVI was applied. An increase in the area for dense vegetation was identified through the metrics, while the anthropized area decreased. It was also noticed that the thin vegetation increased the number of spatialized fragments in the APA. The NDVI for the year 2015 was 0.86 while 2020 was 0.98. NDVI results were similar to landscape metrics. Both methods indicated a reduction of forest fragmentation in a well distributed way in the APA, with a significant regeneration and consequent forest densification throughout the evaluated time series. However, it was concluded that the methodological tools presented relevant data for environmental zoning, identifying changes in natural landscapes and indicating the areas of greatest vulnerability.
