Abstract

The article aims to demonstrate the impacts on the landscape of the Carrapato stream basin, located in the rural area of Boa Vista - Roraima, resulting from land use. The methodology involved an on-site visit, application of a check list method to analyze environmental impacts. The results showed that the Carrapato stream basin is characterized by the increasing use of land resulting from the occupation process and real estate speculation, which has been causing several impacts that altered the abiotic environment such as: Decreased water infiltration process in the soil; depreciation of soil quality through mineral extraction; damage to the soil microbiota; contamination and pollution of surface and groundwater due to the disposal of solid waste; worsening in the microclimate due to the decrease in riparian forest, these factors lead to a decrease in the sustainability of the ecosystem, among others. Thus, it emphasizes the importance of inserting more effective policies aimed at environmental education with the surrounding residents and containing urban occupation.

    Graduated in Geography from the Federal University of Roraima (2001), Master in Natural Resources from the Federal University of Roraima (2007) and PhD in Biotechnology and Biodiversity - Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi / Universidade Federal do Pará (2016). She served as chief editor of the magazine Ambiente, Gestão e Desenvolvimento. She is currently coordinator of the Geography Degree Course at UERR, is part of the editorial board of UERR Editions and section editor of Revista Casa de Makunaima, is a professor of Geography and the Stricto Sensu programs in Geography / UFRR (Master's) and Agroecology / UERR (Master's). She is coordinator of the Research Ethics Committee - CEP / UERR and rapporteur for the National Research Ethics Commission - CONEP. Has experience in the area of Geography, with emphasis on: environmental education, geomorphology, biodiversity and conservation

    Degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Rio Grande do Norte - UERN (2002); PhD in Biotechnology and Biodiversity Rede BIONORTE by the Federal University of Pará / Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (2016); Master in Development and Environment from the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (2005). Professor at the State University of Roraima (UERR). Vice coordinator of the Research Ethics Committee at UERR. Professor of the Master in Science and Mathematics Teaching at UERR. Institutional Coordinator of PARFOR-UERR. She has experience in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development, Ethnobotany and Science Teaching.
