The article aims to study the socio-economic impact of mining, concerning the participation of women in gold exploration in the district of Manica – Mozambique. The data collection techniques were: observation, interview and questionnaire. 64 miners operating in the localities of Penhalonga, Munhena and Mucurumadze, District of Manica, were questioned. The results indicated that women's participation is seen as prejudiced, men claim that women were born and raised to be a mother, wife and housewife, therefore their participation can negatively affect their activities and lower their income. The research found that with the income taken from the mining, some women were able to support the construction of houses, purchase of appliances, land, farm, purchase of means of transport and cattle.
