O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar informações básicas acerca da fonologia, morfologia e da sintaxe da língua Ye'kuana (Karíb) a partir da perspectiva teórica do Funcionalismo Tipológico, seguindo Comrie (1989), Croft (2003), Payne (1997, 2006) e Nichols (2007). Os Ye'kuana estão geograficamente localizados na Venezuela, onde são aproximadamente 6.000 pessoas segundo
Cáceres (2011) e 500 pessoas no Brasil, onde habitam o extremo noroeste do estado de Roraima, na Terra Indígena Yanomami-Ye'kuana, região de Auaris. Este artigo apresenta num primeiro
momento informações gerais sobre a localização dos Ye'kuana, depois sobre a língua Ye'kuana e, num segundo momento, apresenta considerações sobre a fonologia, uma análise da tipologia
morfológica e das classes nome e verbo da língua. Finalmente, seguem alguns comentários sobre a ordem dos constituintes em Ye'kuana.
