Abstract

Seizure behavior is manifested by seizures caused by abnormal electrical activity of CNS neurons. Chalcones are open-chain flavonoids distributed in the plant kingdom. The objective of this work was to investigate the anticonvulsant effect of chalcone 2-fluoride in adult zebrafish. The animals were treated with chalcone 2-Fluorine (4; 20 and 40 mg / kg); vehicle (3% DMSO;) and (DZP; 40 mg / kg). After 30 min, they were individually exposed in the (PTZ; 7.5 mM) solution. Three stages of the seizure were analyzed. All doses of chalcone 2-fluorine increased the latency time for the first stage of the ZFa seizure. In stage 2, the same doses increased the latency time for convulsive behavior and in stage III the highest dose (40 mg / kg) was able to increase the latency for the onset of the seizure. Methylation of flavonoids, as well as the presence of the 3 methoxy substituents (-OCH3) of chalcone 2-fluorine suggests better potentiation of the anticonvulsant effect, as it facilitates absorption and positively affects its bioavailability.
