O presente artigo consiste num estudo etnográfico sobre a trajetória de vida de um músico de classe popular, atuante no mercado de música ao vivo na cidade de Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul. A partir dos dados observados durante a pesquisa de campo, busca-se analisar a trajetória desse músico de formação popular que se tornou professor de música e músico profissional, através do conceito de habitus segundo Pierre Bourdieu, atentando-se para como sua história de vida e sua posição contraída entre dois mundos sociais pode gerar sentimentos e práticas contraditórios.
