Abstract

Theoretical arguments and empirical evidence already signaled in terms of social network analysis - ARS lead us to believe that their basic properties have important consequences for individuals and for the structures of social groupings, especially due to the connections made within them. The general objective of this work is to understand the importance of ARS as a mechanism to increase the social productivity of applied teaching work, as an example, in an agricultural teaching unit in the state of Roraima, through the use of the UCINET software. From a methodological point of view, the emphasis is on the presentation of the software and its potential in terms of ARS. The expected result is the description of the social network of teachers in the educational unit, identifying their density, the bridge actors, the existing groupings, in a way that allows us to analyze them in terms of social capital. According to the data, the social network of teachers in the agricultural technical school is diverse and complex, due to its heterogeneous composition in terms of academic training. Actors of greater centrality in the network were identified, others with a profile of bridge actors, as well as the formation of groups and subgroups. The recommendations were to explore the central actors and intermediaries to co-opt the most isolated individuals, as well as to develop pedagogical management strategies to promote the diffusion and approximation of teachers with different training areas and year of entry into the institution.
