Abstract

The present study aimed to diagnose the forest species with herbal principles, known regionally and used in natural medicine in the city of Rorainópolis, Roraima. Eleven species belonging to seven botanical families and used in alternative treatment were identified. The main diseases observed and treated with these plants were: inflammation of the spine, throat, liver, gastritis, surgery healing, prevention of common diseases and detoxification of the body. Despite the wide forest diversity in the region, few forest tree species are used as an alternative medicine by the local community
