Abstract

The present work had as objective the production and use of a case to approach the chemical equilibrium content, during the actions of the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships - PIBID, for a class of students of the 2nd year of High School of a school public of Rorainópolis-RR, in the second semester of 2016. Faced with the problem of several teaching methodologies making students passive subjects in the teaching-learning process, the case study methodology becomes an important tool to change this scenario, as it changes this dynamics valuing the role of the student himself in the construction of his knowledge. Qualitative, descriptive, field and participatory research was used. The results were obtained through diagnostic and final questionnaires, with mixed questions, systematic observation and record in a field diary. Through the analysis of the data, it was verified the need for innovation in the teaching methodology, since most students know the importance of chemical knowledge, however, they were tired of the traditional methodology. The use of this new methodology brought with it fears and difficulty of acceptance, as it was something new, but, as the classes followed, the level of participation and acceptance of the students proved to be progressively satisfactory, proving that the study methodology of cases can assist in the teaching and learning process, making classes more dynamic and attractive.
