A bacia sedimentar do Tacutu situa-se na fronteira do Brasil com a República Cooperativa da Guiana e tem se mostrado como um importante local para estudos paleobotânicos. Este projeto tem como objetivo desenvolver um banco de dados com morfoanatomia de folhas de angiospermas atuais para fins de comparação com folhas de angiospermas fósseis (Cenozoicas) recuperadas da Bacia sedimentar do Tacutu, Roraima. Assim, a proposta, além de fornecer informações sobre a flora da Amazônia pré-histórica, também visa realizar comparações com as espécies atuais, mostrando relações com seus ancestrais. Ao todo foram coletadas, processadas e descritas 12 espécies que ocorrem no "lavrado" de Roraima, dentre elas: Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth, Davilla aspera (Aubl.) Benoist, Cassia moschata Kunth, Psidium guinense Sw, Bauhinia sp L. Bauhinia forficata Link, Casearia sylvestris Sw., Bowdichia virgilioides Kunth, Hymenaea sp. L., Xylopia aromática (Lam.) Mart., Curatella americana L., Godmania aesculifolia (Kunth) Standl e Miconia sp. Ruiz & Pav.
