Geography of AIDS in Roraima

AIDS is a disease caused by the HIV virus and is characterized by the weakening of the body's defense system and the advent of opportunistic diseases (Brasil, 2018). According to UNAIDS (2017) there are about 36.9 million people living with the HIV virus in the world and of this total, 75% know their serological status. The present work is based on the area of health geography, and aims to identify the epidemiological profile of seropositive people and analyze the occurrence of HIV/AIDS cases in the State of Roraima between the years 2010 to 2018. This research is of paramount importance. for society as a whole, because through study it is possible to investigate the subject that is still a taboo for some people in the 21st century. Thus, the methodology used in this work to obtain the data occurred in a bibliographical and documental way. Based on the information collected on the MS, SINAN, SVS, SIM, SISCEL, SICLOM, DANTPS, DCCI and IBGE websites, it was possible to assemble the table and graphs of the population quantity and the number of people infected with the HIV virus in Excel. and those diagnosed with AIDS, as well as the number of deaths that occurred as a result of the disease. The results show that Roraima follows an increasing trend in the HIV incidence rate, while in Brazil the incidence rate has been decreasing between the years surveyed.
